Bankruptcy could never be described as fashionable but it does come in and go out of favour as a recovery tool. From those who would never make someone bankrupt out of principal through to the other end of the spectrum where a small number make people bankrupt because of the principal!. Certainly in Ascent it is never a ‘go to’ strategy but it is there if needed to be called upon.
The number of bankruptcies which have been referred from lenders shot up by 16 per cent year-on-year, the Insolvency Service reported today. Banks, lenders and HMRC are allowed to petition for someone to become bankrupt if you owe them more than £5,000.
